An emphasis on data use for improvement and accountability is ubiquitous in contemporary educational policy and discourse. Researchers used a multi-layered backward-mapping process through which we identified an “exemplar” data use school to serve as the site for this case study. Using the theoretical framework of transformational and transformative leadership, this study contributes to the existing literature by telling the story of a school that uses data successfully, highlighting the roles of context, content, practice, and relationships.
