The scholarship positions the innovative practice and process of the terragram within place-based education as an eco-educational extension of the genogram. Through qualitative inquiry, the paper describes how the terragram sketches a learner’s family’s relationship with place and place disruption for three generations and also maps the learner’s current place-based assets and relationships. The terragram’s surfacing of place disruption and tracing of place connection surfaces untapped resources for resilience. This strengthening process charts how deepening eco-bonding can ameliorate cultures of consumption and deracination as well as the hyperfocus of technology. The terragram innovates educational practices for the inner dimensions of sustainability education and place-centered, intergenerational embodiment and well-being.
