What happens to anti-racist scholarship and theory in our neoliberal educational research culture? Have global and domestic shifts in social movement activism and scholarly projects on race become depoliticized transnational intellectual projects? In this presentation, I will offer some thoughts about the effects of neoliberal, geopolitical landscapes and postmodern intellectual framings of race, intersectional theorizing, solidarity work. Specifically, I suggest how my research with working-class African American Youth, adapted and developed within a few marginalized anti-racist scholarly and activist communities offers valuable lessons for all of us who are university-based critical educational theorist. In this conceptual paper, I theorize on the meaning of antiblack racism on the lives of working-class and low SES African Youth.
