Update on the Comprehensive Assessment Consortia

• In Event: Transitioning to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS): An Overview of the Activities of the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers and Smarter Balanced to Build Capacity for Implementation of the CCSS and CCSS-Aligned Assessments With a Focus on Technology Readiness

Abstract

This presentation will provide a brief overview of the designs of the two Comprehensive Assessment Consortia, PARCC and Smarter Balanced, and will provide updates on their implementation activities and timelines. Both of these consortia will be field testing their new online assessments in the spring of 2014 and will have released professional development modules to help educators learn to make effective use of the data from these assessment systems. Full implementation of these systems is due to commence in the fall of 2014. In addition, this presentation will provide a brief summary of the designs of the two Alternate Assessment Consortia and the two English Language Proficiency Assessment Consortia, all of which are aligned to the Common Core State Standards
