Measurement Issues in the Development and Deployment of Student Learning Objectives

Abstract

In the second presentation, the experience of providing technical support to states and districts on the design and implementation of SLOs will be discussed. Staff from the Value-Added Research Center at the University of Wisconsin will discuss the SLO design process with a focus on balancing technical rigor with the need for teacher ownership. Specific examples and lessons learned will be drawn from work in Wisconsin, New York, and California, with a focus on the myriad technical and measurement issues that underly successful SLO development and implementation.
