As our classrooms become increasingly ethnically and linguistically diverse, more and more attention is being paid to the experiences of non-White youth. However, there are distinct challenges associated with conducting cultural research in the classroom. Accordingly, the purpose of this presentation will be outline what these challenges are and to provide specific examples of culturally-sensitive research methodologies that can serve to advance both theory and research in the field of educational psychology. Specifically, focus will be placed on methodologies that promote a universalistic approach to the study of culture and learning.
