Research Evidence for Bully Prevention and Intervention Programs

• In Event: Dealing with Bullying--Moving the Needle in Light of the AERA Report on Prevention of Bullying among Schools, Universities, and Colleges

Abstract

Although most schools, districts and States continue to focus on bully prevention curricula and programs this panel will begin with an overview of research evidence that suggests that these efforts are minimally effective. Low effect sizes will be discussed in light of the major challenges associated with adopting these programs in schools, including limited resources in schools, few systemic and multi-level approaches, inadequate training, implementation, and low sustainability.
