Session Type: Structured Poster Session
Ten years of research suggests digital media, games, and simulations are promising tools for educators to engage students in complex problem solving, creativity, collaboration, and a host of digital and visual literacies. National policies now support using digital media, games, and simulations in education, but few efforts are underway to effectively prepare teachers. In fact, most research promoting digital media for learning (DML) is implemented in after-school or out-of-school programs. While this offers and extends valuable learning, successfully scaling initiatives with DML in schools requires considering teacher preparation and Schools of Education. This poster session provides a venue for researchers to share emerging research using digital media, games, and simulations to prepare educators and schools for this important undertaking.
