Session Type: Structured Poster Session
Educators/researchers from the USA, Canada, Europe, and China who participated in the 2012 AERA pre-session Cultivating Action Research and the 2013 Structured Poster Session, Powerful Teaching Informed by Scholarship: Teachers and Teacher Educators Taking Action Research Into Practice, come together to present their most recent wave of action research initiatives. This session begins with an introduction in which we assert our claim that incorporating action research and collaborative group work in professional education can reduce the theory–practice divide. The session transforms into 2 sequential sets of 6 poster presentations enabling each participant can describe their study, see one another’s studies, and discuss implications of their work. Two discussants finish by moderating a discussion regarding action research for professional learning.
