Abstract
Forty-five states and the District of Columbia have agreed to align their instructional program to the Common Core standards. How can the Common Core complement and not conflict with school improvement efforts already at work across the United States? How can it be seamlessly integrated into accountability systems, teacher preparation and development, and school choice? This panel examines the myriad issues involved in implementing the Common Core and posits several actions policymakers and school leaders can take to make the effort a success.
