The “Placetimematter” of Generation in Feminist Qualitative Research

Abstract

In this symposium we use the word ‘generation’ as an alternative to ‘innovation’ to explore how new knowledge manifests in feminist educational research. The evolution of qualitative research is most commonly understood as a logical progress of linear time, a construction that erases the materialities of its production. This symposium takes up the concept of ‘spacetimemattering’ (Barad, 2010) in the context of generation to explore the field of feminist post-qualitative research as an object of study. The four presenters will re-think the moments and movements of feminist qualitative research through mapping linkages and entanglements within and between generations of scholars across time and space.
