Abstract

Teach For America (TFA) is an innovative program which has shifted the national conversation about teacher recruitment and training in low-income schools. While research has examined its short term impacts on student achievement, less is known about its impacts beyond the classroom. This panel uses qualitative and quantitative research to examine the impacts of TFA outside of the classroom and to gain a deeper understanding of the characteristics of its teachers. It also seeks to foster a research conversation between education policy researchers, educators of TFA teachers, and internal TFA staff.
