Storying Innovative Practices: International Perspectives on Archives and Schools

Abstract

In response to the conference theme of Education Research for Innovation, and to provoke discussion around education history and archives, our panel of three researchers and a discussant investigate the unique stories of scholars working with educational archives on three continents. We address how history is now a multivalent construction of relations between oral histories, material culture, archives, and personal reflection. As researchers of new histories we contribute to critically advancing transdisciplinary discourses that can improve practice in teacher education and shape how we write education histories in the 21st century. The past can now be an artful emplotment of events and individuals, opening doors to research innovation in the history of education.
