Critical Pedagogy: New Philosophical Interventions

Abstract

Bearing in mind critical pedagogy’s interdisciplinary character, presenters at this symposium endeavor to revitalize the field by introducing/ recovering four different theories from four different traditions. These theories focus on questions of liberation, phenomenology, overdetermination, and the Birmingham School's notions of temporality. The presenters will describe how these theories may be used to update and extend critical pedagogy.
