Edu4: Social Imagination, Innovation, and Political Activism in Education

Abstract

This symposium introduces the historical background, current state, and future directions of the Edu4 initiative within the broader context of curriculum, educational inequity, social justice, community building, and attempts to alleviate economic, intellectual, and moral poverty. Panelists will report on the status of three of Edu4's most active working groups followed by small group discussions that include perspectives of local stakeholders. The primary objective is to embody Edu4’s conceptualization of a vibrant public space that attracts, organizes, and coordinates diverse educators and professionals resisting the neoliberal attack on public education with the goal of cultivating a more equitable and socially just educational landscape.
