Comprehensive and Critical Review of Current Middle-Level Research and Practice

Abstract

The purpose of this symposium is to report on the existing body of current middle level research and practice by examining a selected group of middle grade publications. It presents a critical review of the history of middle level movement, topics, theoretical frameworks, and research methods. While specific questions of the presenters’ papers are different, each study responds to the broad research question: What is the current trend in middle grades research and practice? This comprehensive research synthesis aims to provide the middle level community with future directions for research designed to improve practice.
