Session Type: Symposium
Funded by the Gates Foundation, the College Readiness Indicator Systems (CRIS) initiative is a partnership between the John W. Gardner Center at Stanford University, the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University, and the Consortium on Chicago School Research at the University of Chicago. Four papers comprise this session. The first paper explains the theoretical foundation behind the CRIS project and offers lessons learned from data collected in five districts over three years. The second paper highlights partnership opportunities between community-based organizations and educational institutions to help strengthen a college-readiness focus. The third paper highlights guiding principles for selecting valid and reliable indicators. The final paper illustrates how one district navigated opportunities and challenges when implementing a CRIS.
