Critical Race Theory and a Multidimensional Analysis of K-12 Schools

Abstract

The purpose of this symposium is to bring together critical race scholars that examine varying aspects of K-12 schools and communities. Through research on curriculum, students, teachers and parents, this session will provide a space for both presenters and attendees to discuss the manifestations of racism in school-community contexts. By examining these four studies collectively, we begin to see the ubiquitous nature of racial inequality in schools. This panel will extend our thinking on instituting CRT praxis in K-12 settings, and offer tools to better theorize institutional oppression as we work for racial equity and social justice.
