Session Type: Symposium
Despite the essential role of vocabulary in reading proficiency, theoretical frameworks for vocabulary practices have often been incomplete or lacking (e.g., Pearson, Hiebert, & Kamil, 2007). The four papers in this symposium draw on recent theory and tools from linguistics to address critical aspects of school vocabulary practices. The aim of bringing these papers together in one symposium is to increase attention within the educational community to available paradigms and tools from recent work in linguistics.
