Rethinking Educational Pathways to Promote Access

Abstract

Educational pathways in tertiary education are intrinsic to access and equity policies that seek to promote educational progression, occupational pathways and social mobility in countries such as the United States, England and Australia. The key purposes of educational pathways include supporting student transitions between vocational and academic education, and between different types of institutions (for example, between community colleges and universities). This symposium will problematise educational pathways and explore the links between the structures of the labour market and educational pathways, the role they play in enabling social mobility and supporting regional and national economies.
