Session Type: Structured Poster Session
In the last decade, increased emphasis on accountability has resulted in calls for researchers to further the development of evidence-based practice by focusing on teacher preparation. Teacher educators in this session draw on variety of research methods (including case studies, mixed methods, and survey research) to examine how mandated performance assessments inform and impact teacher preparation, to collaborate with stakeholders in analyses of program effectiveness, and as a way of seeking alternative views to evaluate teacher education programs and the effects of educational policies. These researchers go beyond compliance to accreditation standards to examine and critique both inputs and outputs associated with teacher preparation and to understand the impact of reform initiatives on their programs.
