This session critically assesses the challenges and opportunities represented by digital tools and online learning environments for teaching and learning qualitative research methods. Bringing together teachers and students of qualitative research methods, this session initiates dialogue about virtual learning spaces, how to navigate these new spaces for learning and teaching qualitative research methods and how to effectively incorporate digital tools and technologies in instruction. What is gained and lost in the use of digital tools and online learning environments in teaching and learning qualitative research methods? Challenges and opportunities are theorized to examine what happens when classes take place in online environments and when digital tools replace established methods.
