Session Type: Symposium
The rise of digital and new media technologies in education not only brings us new ways of working with curriculum, but also challenges us to take the affordances, materialities, and potentialities of digital technologies seriously and deliberate on their profound epistemological and methodological significances.
There are certain difficulties in envisioning the connections between virtual world enabled by technology and embodied meaning making, which is usually manifested in face-to-face environments. Working with such tensions and difficulties, we explore ways that embodiment and embodied learning with technology are made possible. We engage new media studies, autoethnography, visual studies, and cultural studies in addressing the conceptual and methodological implications of the visual and digital turn of curriculum studies.
