Abstract

This symposium will present evidence of the power and possibilities of education research to guide system change, continuous improvement and innovation. Papers will address the impact of government strategies for whole system reform and multi-level interventions to improve teaching and leadership practices through inquiry and evaluative thinking. Collectively, the papers will analyze evidence of: the value of education research and evaluative thinking in system reform; evaluations of collaborative inquiry to improve teaching and learning; the role of district self-assessment to support leadership development; and technology-enabled teaching and learning practices and school innovations to improve learning outcomes. Emphasis will be placed on the critical role of research and innovation in system change and continuous improvement to address persistent education issues.
