Abstract

Theoretical and methodological views on language and meaning abound, and despite much shared grounding amongst members of the Language and Social Processes SIG, productive diversity persists. This session aims to capitalize on the lively discussions surrounding epistemology, method, and legacy that circulate at AERA and beyond in order to think through some of the ways that, as a community of ardent analysts, we can bring together concerns about language, positioning, multimodality, and embodiment in order to chart new methodological ground that might find routes to impacting policy and practice and through which we can speak not only to each other but others invested in educational institutions at many levels.
