Session Type: Symposium
New physical learning environments are increasingly assumed to include a variety of embedded and distributed digital technologies. These spatial-technological relationships are among an ever-growing variety of characteristics relevant to our understanding of situated learning processes. This symposium brings this relationship to the foreground through studies in an art museum, science museum, middle school classroom, high school classroom, and university department. The aim of the symposium is to investigate recent approaches to the design of digitally mediated learning spaces. In doing so, we will identify features and design principles with applicability across all settings as well as contextual factors for specific settings and domains. This session presents viewpoints on innovative ways of thinking about advanced learning technologies, collaboration, and architectural space.
