Abstract

Firmly grounded in sociocultural theories of human development, our session shares the outcomes gained from designing, implementing, and researching activities mediated by digital social networking sites and Web 2.0 applications for pre-service classroom teachers as part of their developing pedagogical practice. With so much of educational discourse having coalesced around the development of 21st century learning outcomes for P-12 youth, today’s pre-service teachers occupy a remarkable space in teacher preparation environment. In accord with the conference theme, this session presents one institution that is looking “ahead at where the field is headed” conceptually, developmentally, and pragmatically.
