Session Type: Working Group Roundtable
This working-group roundtable engages participants in a dialogue about principles of operation guiding decisions in constructing data sets from archived ethnographic records collected in K-20 classrooms. These dialogues are designed to address relatively unexamined issues: how, and in what ways, do archived records support the ongoing development of research studies, and what challenges do researchers face when they (re)enter their own archives, or work with records collected in another ethnographic project. In this way, we problematize social and contextual issues associated with calls for “data sharing” when ethnographic and video/audio records of social life within particular groups are primary sources of “data”.
