Session Type: Symposium
Multiethnic scholars from different work places explore womanist perspectives on curriculum studies. We engage the audience from diverse curriculum paradigms in discussions on potentials, challenges, and possibilities of womanist ideas of curriculum inquiry and modes of expression and representation. We explore creative ways to write about curriculum inquiries and to engage in writings which embed inquiry in school, neighborhood, and community life to transform research into positive social and educational change. We share how our womanist perspectives, which include Black womanist, womanist activist, multiracial womanist, Chicana womanist, indigenous womanist, and Asian American womanist perspectives, address pressing issues and contemporary concerns, make impact on practice, policy, and historical, social, political, economic, geographical, cultural, linguistic, and ecological contexts, and advance curriculum theory.
