Session Type: Symposium
Homeless and highly mobile students in urban schools experience multiple barriers in their pursuit of education. Their experiences in school are critical to their ability to make a smooth transition into adulthood. This symposium presents three distinct papers that focus on the education of homeless and highly mobile students. The presenters explore the topic from three distinct methodological vantage points providing the audience with an understanding of the individual or organizational issues students and districts experience. Although homeless and highly mobile youth are an incredibly diverse population, the presenters discuss themes that are useful for policymakers, practitioners and educators interested in supporting housing vulnerable students.
