Session Type: Invited Session
The challenges of educating a diverse population with the knowledge and skills demanded by the 21st century call for new approaches to research and development, including innovative collaborations and uses of technology. This session features projects being conducted by researchers affiliated with the Learning Sciences Research Institute, University of Illinois at Chicago, in interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues from partnering universities, schools, and informal learning settings. These projects engage a range of technologies to support access to information, disciplinary reasoning, synchronous and asynchronous communication, assessment for and of learning, and knowledge-building argumentation. This structured poster session will begin with a short introduction and overview of the featured projects, followed by time to interact with researchers and tools. The session will conclude with comments from discussant Jeremy Roschelle, and interactive audience discussion.
