Come catch up with your colleagues. Don't forget to stick around for the keynote speaker Janet Kolodner The abstract of the talk is as follows:
In the keynote session that follows the review of SIG business, Janet Kolodner will discuss research on the role of problems, design, and scaffolding in authentic learning experiences. This will take the form of a conversation with 3 colleagues, who will ask Dr. Kolodner questions about the implications of what she has learned about these topics through her research on artificial intelligence, case-based learning, and Design-based Learning. Of note, Design-based Learning is an attempt to help middle school students learn science through design, and provides a framework to help teachers manage the process. Make sure to come to learn more about the visionary research of Dr. Kolodner, and what it may mean for the future of problem-based learning. The reception that follows the keynote session will present further opportunities for discussion among the greater SIG-PBE community.
