Alleviating “Teamwork” Anxieties: How to Establish and Sustain Successful Collaborative Publication-Oriented Relationships

Abstract

This session seeks to provide graduate students with insight into managing relationships with colleagues and/ or faculty members when collaborating on research or writing projects with the intent to publish. Panelists will speak to, among other themes, 1) developing partnerships and the role of networking in this process, 2) establishing a workflow and how to approach the division of labor in various roles, 3) addressing logistical and technical issues related to conference presentation and publication procedures, and 4) engaging in interdisciplinary work through collaboration with scholars in other disciplines. The overall objective of this session is to get faculty members’ perspectives both in their current roles and drawing upon their previous experiences as graduate students on collaborative relationships in higher education research projects.
