Formulating Design Principles: Transforming Structures, Supports, and Resources for Teacher Development

Abstract

From April 2012 to April 2013, a study group of Division K conducted sessions at three national education meetings to (1) engage colleagues in a networked improvement community (NIC) around the problem of clinical practice in teacher development, (2) generate interest in conducting research on clinical practice, and (3) elicit suggestions for a research agenda. In this session we will continue to engage the community of researchers and practitioners (a) to develop an improvement map identifying leverage points for transformation of the structures, supports, and resources for teacher development and (b) to articulate the underlying design principles leading to a clinically-based trajectory of teacher development.
