Graduate Student Council Food-for-Thought Session. Learning Through Sisterhood: Urban Arts and Education With the Philadelphia Sophisticated Sisters

Abstract

Come and nourish your soul in the Graduate Student Resource Center for the GSC Food-for-Thought sessions, where we are showcasing the work of local artists and community organizations. The Sophisticated Sisters are school-aged African American female youth that share a passion for dance. The group has been featured on CBS news and recently had a student named on the CNN Top 10 Heroes. They will be sharing their organization and some of their dances to show how urban areas can be transformed through the arts. Food and refreshments will be available.
