Session Type: Invited Session
Educational research offers tremendous insight to address longstanding challenges, but the road from research to policy at times appears riddled with detours. In this session, researchers with diverse histories in policy-shaping careers will discuss this challenge and offer recommendations of how the path could be made smoother. They will provide examples of research that is making an impact on policy in the context of their respective fields, as well as research that has largely been ignored, despite clear policy implications. Panelists will address how those embarking on similar career paths can help facilitate a more streamlined process. Attendees will benefit from a nuanced discussion of what can be done to further embrace the use of educational research in policy decisions.
