Abstract

Young people spend over 70% of their time outside of school and recent research demonstrates the importance of seeing the outside of school activities as different and distinct from schooling. These four papers look closely at afterschool and outside of school time through a Cultural-Historical lens, and examine the role of play, creativity, community, and relationships in supporting learning and development.
