This panel brings together leading experts on the “cradle-to-prison pipeline” to discuss the important topic of the prison industrial complex in an age of neoliberal school reformation. This year’s theme, “The Power of Education Research for Innovation in Practice and Policy” is highly germane to the “cradle-to-prison” pipeline as Victor Hugo said it best, “He who opens a school door, closes a prison.” But is Hugo right? The five expert panelists in this session will discuss what research tells us to be true about the cradle-to-prison pipeline phenomenon.
