Pathways to Tenure for Junior Faculty Conducting Research With a Focus on Black Education

Abstract

Research Focus on Black Education, a SIG at AERA, will present in collaboration with the Urban Education Collaborative “Pathways to Tenure for Junior Faculty Conducting Research with a Focus on Black Education, a pre-conference workshop on the critical importance of preparing Jr. Faculty to successfully navigate the tenure process. The 4 hour long program will focus on four (4) major components that support the professorial development of young scholars. The four (4) components are:

1. Developing a Research Agenda,
2. How to Secure Funding for Research projects,
3. Publishing, and
4. The importance of membership at AERA.
The pre-conference workshop is designed to help increase the retention and matriculation to tenure of scholars who conduct research on Black education.
