International Advancements in 21st-Century Skills Assessment

Abstract

Abstract
The focus of this proposed session is central to innovation in educational practice and policy, the theme for the annual meeting in 2014. Frameworks to identify and describe 21st century skills have been developed by international agencies, non-governmental and private-sector organizations, and academic teams. These frameworks support the understanding and implementation of 21st century skills in educational systems. However, there remain many questions regarding how these skills can meaningfully and effectively be assessed. The purpose of this session is to showcase advances in the assessment of 21st century skills at an international level. Recognized and accomplished international researchers will present their work relating to the assessment of creativity, online assessment tasks to assess collaborative problem solving, individual tasks to assess complex problem solving, issues in large-scale assessment of computer and information literacy, and tools for assessing 21st century skills in higher education classrooms.
