Sun, April 19, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Sheraton, Floor: Fourth Level, Chicago VI&VII

Abstract

Modeling mathematics achievement has intrigued educational researchers for a long period. Factors such as gender, race, parents’ education and school sectors are proven to play important roles in predicting students’ mathematics achievement. This study is designed to examine whether math efficacy, math credits, postsecondary plan and school sectors are significant in predicting students’ math performance. By utilizing the tool of multilevel modeling, this study confirms the predictive power of math efficacy, math course credits, postsecondary plans and school sectors as to students’ mathematics achievement.
