Adoption of Mixed Methods in a Non-Western Developing Country

Thu, April 16, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside West

Abstract

Since the emergence of mixed methods in 1980s, the developments of mixed methods have not been explored in East Asian countries, such as China. The study was to construct an instrument to investigate how Chinese scholars have accepted and used this methodology. In the project, I used an exploratory
sequential mixed methods design that combined qualitative case study and structural equation modeling to construct the instrument systematically, demonstrating the rigorous ways that (1) how the quantitative items were developed based on the initial qualitative case study findings, (2) what evidence of content validity of the instrument was collected, and (3) how the confirmatory factor analysis was conducted for the evidence of construct validity.
