An Analysis of the Educational Leadership Faculty Job Market

Abstract

This study focuses on determining the current job market for potential faculty members in the field of educational leadership and educational administration. The researchers analyzed all the job advertisements (N=173) seeking faculty members in this field for the 2012-2013 academic year. Among other things, this article details materials needed, skills required, qualifications required, needed responsibilities and experiences, as well content areas required. The data herein indicates the current needs of the field. This analysis offers future faculty members guidance as they embark on potential careers in academia. Since this study describes experiences and skills needed, it also informs the professors in the field who mentor and prepare future faculty members.
