Inclusive Education Throughout the World: A Comparison

Mon, April 20, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Sheraton, Floor: Fourth Level, Chicago VI&VII

Abstract

This paper looks at elements of inclusive education in countries around the world to see how political, social and cultural factors impact the accessibility of education to children with disabilities, economic and other cultural disadvantage. Data is synthesized from the literature to compare continents, regions and north/south divisions in their educational policies and practices. Support for developing countries with regard to policy and practice are explored. Recommendations are made to further communication and support to countries that are struggling with providing educational access to children.
