This paper contributes to AERA’s 2015 theme “Toward Justice: Culture, Language, and Heritage in Education Research and Praxis” in an unconventional manner. AERA’s 2015 theme aims to “examine the meaning of culture, language, and heritage” to move towards justice. With this theme in mind, I argue that we need to maintain sensitivity with an ethic of responsibility when we employ creativity to develop something new in the space of hybridity. Essentially, the newness that develops may create injustices that misrepresent religion and culture. In education, this sheds light on an urgent need to rethink how educators engage in the creative process to prevent the continuation of colonizing ideologies through a destructive unjust curriculum.
