This paper explores the capacity of wearable technologies in practices of school gardening. Using feminist posthumanist and/or new materialist ontologies (Barad, 2007; Braidotti, 2013; St Pierre, 2013) and drawing on deleuze/guattarian philosophy, I do so in ways that reconsider what data ‘is.’ Rather than perceiving of wearable technologies and the subject that wears it as the producer of the product – the product being the visual image – we can begin to think about the process of production as pedagogical. This perspective further encourages a consideration of the ‘unproductive’ (Deleuze & Guattari, 1977) as a site of pedagogy.
