Demonstrating America's Racial Policies and Practices Across Three Racial Groups During the 19th Century

Fri, April 17, 8:15 to 10:15am, Swissotel, Floor: Lucerne Level, Lucerne III

Abstract

This paper is primarily a detailed investigation of education for Native Hawaiians during the 19th century. However, it is important to demonstrate that America’s racial policies involved common practices across culturally diverse groups. Thus, this article incorporates prior studies on the education of African Americans and Native Americans to compare with Native Hawaiians. Besides making this connection, the purpose of this article is to compare and contrast the education during the 19th century for three culturally diverse groups.
