Abstract

Even though a teacher’s technology knowledge and skills and online presence are reported to have a great impact in the education system, there is relatively little research on the qualities principals value in teacher hiring, with a few studies specifically focused on principals in charter schools. Furthermore, there is almost no research on charter schools’ teacher candidate’s technology knowledge and skills and online presence. Thus, this study’s aim is to address this gap in the literature using a case-study approach to explore the hiring practices of a charter management organization in terms of candidates’ technology skills and online identity.
