This paper presents a narrative study nested within the context of the tenure/promotion and teacher education. Our experiences, from the sunrise to the sunset of our academic careers are explored through collected journals and other documents. Three major strands are addressed: a) experiences in authors’ academic homes, b) collaboration among critical friends, and c) our interactions between the academy and our desires for becoming strong teacher educators. Using our narrative voices, we wend our way through our experiences to bring forth a filigree of understandings that we had of our institutions, our academic culture, our instructional processes, and our students.
