A considerable amount of research has been undertaken to examine the question why certain teams are more effective than others. On the other hand, research and application of automated assessment of team performance is very limited. The central objective of this study is to advance knowledge in automated assessment of team-based performance using a language-oriented approach. 56 teams of learners (N = 224) in three experimental conditions solved two tasks that were analyzed with the Automated Knowledge Visualization and Assessment methodology. Findings indicate initial evidence of the feasibility and validity of the fully automated methodology. The paper concludes with perspectives for future development and practical implementation.
